What a night! On Monday 25 June, our International Mountain Leader Phil Coates was one of 20 adventurers speaking at Night of Adventure in London. The event, the brain-child of adventurer Alastair Humphreys, was a sell-out and brought together adventurers, explorers, daredevils and pioneers to share their experiences with a live audience.
The evening was all in aid of Hope and Homes for Children, an international charity working to ensure that all children have the chance to grow up in the love of a family.
Phil gave a thrilling account of his adventures in the North Pole, and shared the stage with an intrepid bunch of adventurers with some inspiring stories to tell, including:
Anna Hughes - cycling around Britain
Jeremy Curl - cycling across the Sahara
Alastair Humphreys - 24hr microadventures in the UK
Matthew Blake - around the world bike ride
Leon McCarron - 3000mile walk from Mongolia to Hong Kong
Dylan Winter - sailing round the UK
William Palmer - paragliding from Hong Kong to Istanbul
"Phil was brilliant on the night" said Kerry Watson o Hope and Homes for Children. The raffle, which included a copy of Andy Mouncey's book London to Paris the Hard Way, raised an additional £1,600 for the charity.
The Nights of Adventure series have given birth to a new fundraising idea, the Summer of Adventure - a great way to channel your inspiration and enjoy your own adventure. There's no better place to start dreaming up an adventure in the mountains, than by joining one of our ultra trail running camps in the French Alps and the UK, or a trekking holiday in Crete.
Week long treks in the White Mountains of Crete start on 11th Sept and 25th Sept costing £895
Mont Blanc Massif ultra trail running camps start on 25th Aug for 3, 7 or 10 days. Prices start from £495
